Principals Welcome

Welcome

On behalf of all the staff, students and Governing Council, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new, ongoing and potential students and parents of Reynella Primary School.

Our aim, as a staff and Governing Council, is to work in partnership with the students and their families to provide an education that not only prepares students for the future they will create, but provides the skills and processes to access ongoing learning and information for life.

We believe that the curriculum extends beyond academic learning and should focus on the whole person, to provide a balance of skills, attitudes, values and learning that will prepare all students for their future.

Teaching and non-teaching staff are continuously involved in developing their skills and knowledge in all areas related to student learning.  Our School Service Officers are each studying a Certificate 3 or 4 qualification in order to better assist teachers to achieve excellent learning outcomes for all students.  Specific programs are in place to support students with learning needs as well as those who are high achieving.

In conjunction with this is the high quality technology available for all students from reception through to year seven to access. All classrooms have an Interactive Whiteboard, a visualiser, access to laptops and in 2014 access to iPads.  These are tools that students utilise to engage with their learning.  Students can access the latest Windows 8 technology  as well as using laptops in classrooms to enhance ‘learning at the point of need”.

During the year students from years 5-7 have the opportunity to join one of our choirs, learn a musical instrument, take on a leadership role through the Student Representative Council (SRC) and participate in SAPSASA sporting competitions. Younger students can be a part of decision making through the SRC as well as taking on roles of responsibility in their own classrooms. All classes are rostered on to arrange a whole school assembly where they practice their public speaking and presentation to a larger audience.
